Find us in Geneva for the Monstre Festival
From 14 to 17 November, the Monstre invades Geneva once again with a series of events around small press and screen printing. Still going against the current, for its third edition the Monstre isn't content with taking over almost the entire Usine and mating with its usual friends, the exhibition spaces Le Labo, Hard Hat and Halle Nord. This year it stretches its tentacles all the way to the Usine Kugler and plans to wet its whistle at its very own watering hole, the Monster Muschi bar, set up especially for the festival. No fewer than six venues, then, to showcase every form of handmade publishing in the Do It Yourself spirit. Still without subsidies, although money flows freely in our fair country, the greedy Monstre couldn't help cooking up an even more copious programme. At the Rez and the Zoo of the Usine, the Convention spreads over two floors this year – not to show more, but better! As the main course, thirteen exhibitions reveal almost every trend at work among lovers of the paper object.
Not to mention the many openings, concerts, performances, meetings and workshops that will fatten up, over four days, a Monstre 2013 that promises to be gargantuan. Remember, the Monstre only exists because it has lots of tentacles and plenty of friends. Most of the participants are active outside commercial circuits and are therefore often little known to the general public. It's up to you to discover the graphic wanderings of the lovers of "do it yourself": an avalanche of images, moving or not, sounds, smells, encounters and questions. The Monstre is a terrible giant virus, it spreads its DIY love fever as widely as possible and fully intends to infect you.
